The gypsum crystal Satin Spar, which is often mistaken as Selenite can be found around the world in the colors white and orange. It is a very powerful crystal that offers (spiritual) protection and relieves (physical) pain. It also has a calming and relaxing effect and can be used to cleanse and recharge other crystals. Satin Spar can be placed nearby (in raw or polished form) or worn on the body (in polished or coated form). Orange Satin Spar gets its colors from Hematite inclusions which have a grounding effect (and also absorbs negative energy).

Selenite is also part of the gypsum family and has similar metaphysical properties and uses as Satin Spar. Selenite forms very slowly compared to Satin Spar, which gives it a more transparent/clear appearance and makes it more expensive.

Disclaimer:

Satin Spar and Selenite both have a score of 2 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. This makes Satin Spar and Selenite very soft crystals that scratch and break easily. They can also dissolve in water and splinter easily in raw form.
